NBC has announced that they are casting for a new outdoor adventure show to be hosted
by everyone’s favorite wildman, Bear Grylls. The show, which doesn’t have a name yet, will put teams of two against one another in a remote wilderness setting, with the winning team awarded a substantial cash prize. Exactly how much cash hasn’t been revealed yet either. The show’s description simply reads: “Teams of two will be dropped in a remote wilderness location; make it to the end and win the reward of a lifetime!”
To audition to be on the show, simply send an email to bearshowcasting@gmail.com. That email should includes the names of the two teammates, relationship to one another, occupations, short biographies, photos, and contact information. Also include a brief message about why you should be picked to appear on the show. Applicants must be legal U.S. residents and be 21 years of age by February 1st, 2013. If selected, a valid U.S. passport is required.
Go ahead; sign up! Maybe you could be the next big reality TV star. If Darren and I were Americans, we’d be all over this!
I like Bear Grylls show more than anything else. I wonder how he manages to eat those nasty stuff while he actually has good food at his disposal. Very tough thing.
I missed the part where you talk about how you’re going to get on that show? Come on!
I’m not a legal resident so I can’t enter
Boo!
I know, right? This is the perfect show for me
Thanks for sharing! I’m excited to give this a shot!
This sounds awesome! I’m tempted to sign up, but I think my husband and I would only do well if it was mountain wilderness!
It doesn’t hurt to apply
I thought being a legal resident meant you didn’t necessarily have to be a citizen? It took my father 16 years to become a citizen (he was a bit lazy on that front, already being married to a US citizen and this was pre 9/11), but in the meantime he had his green card and was a legal resident. Nowadays I know becoming a US citizen is ridiculously hard. It seems a bit strange to exclude Canadians from this show… and the host is originally from the UK! (He could be a US citizen now but still). Oh well, their loss!
I’m not sure of the logistics, but I’m certain I don’t fit into the “legal resident” category. I think it’s different for your father because he married a US citizen; both my husband and I are Canadians.
I think it’s a question of terminology, the show used the wrong term because there is a difference between a legal resident and a US citizen (since they say the contestants have to have a US passport, therefore citizen). I remember my father having to pass through the “residents/non-American citizens” customs line at JFK for many years (when he had a green card) before he finally became a citizen. If you and Darren have green cards, this makes the two of you legal residents, but not US citizens.
I would watch this show! As for applying, I can only imagine the harrowing stuff one would have to do and I think that ship has sailed for me. As much as I like to fantasize about or watch others eating really gross things, filtering water threw a dirty t-shirt, or sleeping in a cave with other critters, I believe that my true wimpy self would shine through. That raises my respect exponentially for those who would apply for and do this show!
While I’ve been an outdoorsman since I could stand; I have really grown attached to my thermostat and food that doesn’t bite me back.
Yeah, I think that I’ve become a wimp when it comes to this stuff, but I would still be up for the challenge. I guess it’s easy to say that since I can’t apply

Bear tweeted the casting announcement a couple of days ago:

He also tweeted that the show is going to be called “Get Out Alive” (https://twitter.com/BearGrylls/status/265890146937888768)
I was really hoping to apply. This show, along with “The Amazing Race,” are the ones that I think I would do really well on.
COOL! I BETTER BEGIN PRACTICING MY SURVIVAL TECHNIQUES!
if they have a glamour version of this, i would definitely sign up….hahaha
I totally know what you mean about not being able to apply…it would be nice if they opened shows up to Canadians! You should have tried out for Mantracker when it was on…lol
So glad you shared this!
From what I read, the working title is “Get Out Alive”
Can’t wait!
Move to America and apply for a greed card. You may have time! It says “U. S. Legal residents.” Not sure how long it takes, though. If you do, I’ll cheer for you!
I live in the US but the “legal resident” part does not work in my favor.
Bummer.
Sorry you don’t sport a US passport. Give me a “bear hug” just the same.
Thank you for sharing! I am so submitting my boyfriend and I
He’s the outdoorsmen. -CAT
This is totally perfect for you. What a bummer
Sounds like a “Survivor” spin-off..definitely sounds interesting, though!

Is it safe to say that this show inspires you everyday to get out of bed, and do what you do? Because i know it would for me (: Awesome. i’m so happy that he’s doing this. Ps ( 127 hours-also an inspiration)

Why do you have to be Americans to be on the show. That sucks. I think you should try anyway.
Love Bear Grylls : )

I won’t try out because I won’t eat 99% of what he eats…but scripted, non-scripted I NEVER get tired of watching Bear Grylls!!!
I think they should make an exception for you!
I had not heard about this, but it sounds intense. I think it will end up being a great show.
Hey Lesley,
This is a wonderful opportunity. Thanks for sharing. Being able to be on a Bear Grylls show is huge! Like you said, if I and husband were Americans we’d probably try, or at least he’s probably try. Right now, I satisfy myself by watching re-runs of Man Vs. Wild
Ah, bless… His mum shops in my friend’s green grocers (he does too when he’s home). Apparently he’s a true Boy Scout.
Too bad, wish they could open the audition more internationally.. It has always been our dreams
Thanks for sharing anyway, can’t wait until the show’s on air.
Hello Lesley, I’m glad Bear is still alive with all the shows he’s done. I think he’s an SAS asset, so he is durable. It’s too bad, you don’t have a show also. Looks fun what your doing travelling. Stay safe. God’s blessings on you. Pslams 23 and John 3:16-18. Look forward to hearing more of your travels. Thanks for stopping by the blog.
😜I missed this post when you first wrote this. What happened to the show?
