Suggestions from the People that Know Best

Many of you know that I recently entered a contest called the Biggest Baddest Bucket List.Bucket List Contest The prize is unbelievable. It’s an all-expense-paid trip around the world, $10,000 spending money during the trip, and $50,000 cash when you return home. With over 50,000 followers, I thought I’d have over 1000 votes already but it’s a slow start. I’m currently at 525 votes. So, I’m asking you, my readers who know best, what should I do to encourage more voting?

My thought: I put a challenge out there to you. How many people do you think you can convince to vote? Do you think you can get 5? 10? 25? Put your number below and let me know how it goes. Maybe you have a cool technique that you’d like to share.

If you put a number like 25 and you accomplish it, I’d love to interview you for the blog! That is some serious social klout and it would be great to share your techniques with my readers. I’m sure thousands, including me, would love to know your secret.

My sister shared the link with her friends last night and got over 30 votes! Tomorrow she’ll share it with her coworkers and see if that number will double.

Are any of you students? Imagine what could be accomplished if you share this in your classroom! It would be hundreds of instant votes! The possibilities are endless.

Here’s how the voting works:

Scroll down to the video. (Watch the video if you’d like)

Click on the social share buttons next to the video to vote. Each button counts as another vote so if you use Facebook and Twitter and click on both, it counts as two votes.

You can watch my video here:

When I asked for logo ideas, I received emails by the dozen. You’re creative and crafty. Let’s get this party started. How many people can you convince to vote for me? I put the challenge out there.

As part of the rules, I’m not allowed to offer a prize in exchange for votes, but I’m certain there must be a way to encourage more voting. What are your thoughts?

“The purpose of life, after all, is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experiences.”

    • You have tons of social klout! I bet you could get 15 people to vote! Are you up for the challenge? I know you can do it. Come on, Mark; help me win a trip around the world and $50,000!

      Regardless, you rock.

Thanks for all of your support ;)

  2. You have my votes and I’m pulling for you; can’t imagine anyone who’d suck the marrow out of this life experience more than you. Good Luck.

  3. I’ve been following your blog a bit and love that you travel and explore the world! I also know it can be a doozy to fund that! (I’m raising 15,000 myself right now to do missions work via the world race and it is not easy lol)

You have my vote!!! So I voted for you and I REALLY hope you win! I would love to see you be able to go on your dream trip and get paid for it too! Keep blogging and writing Lesley! Your changing the world one dreamer at a time ;)

    • I’m like most travelers; I’m not independently wealthy, like some think, and I don’t have opportunities handed to me at leisure. I’ve worked hard to get to this point in my life and I continue to work hard now. Travel and adventure are part of me like family and friends so I find ways to make it happen. I figure out what I want from life and I go after it. I don’t want to live a life of restrictions. Anything is possible. If you want to do the mission work, I’m certain you’ll find a way to make it a reality.

Good luck with your ventures; may the world be at your doorstep,

      Lesley

  4. I am wondering that myself. I have shared and re-blogged, posted to Twitter, Google+ and Facebook. I am in several Facebook “Groups” and shared in there as well. That equals up to quite a few people. Unfortunately I am not seeing the participation rates I expected. Very disappointed in the peeps. I voted again on all 4. That is 3 or 4 days in a row now.

    • When I voted tonight, you were at 588. I just checked again, and you are still at 588. Can you only vote once? I assumed it was a standard 24 hour cycle to be able to vote again. I don’t see any fine print anywhere stating you can only vote once, you might want to check that out.

      • This is the way I think it works…

You can vote once for each social media outlet listed. So, if you use Twitter, Google+, and Facebook, it will count as 3 votes total. After that initial vote, it remembers your vote and will post but doesn’t count as a new vote.

You rock for sharing it on your blog and I’m sure you’ve helped out tons.

Regardless, I love all of your support!
        :)

  5. Just shared on multiple sites! Also, next week I’m going to post the blog profile/featurette I asked you about with a request for support (my plan is to publish it on the 12th – I’ll email you the link). Hopefully that will garner some extra votes from my followers! :D

  10. I admire your adventuresome spirit and apreciate how you take time to read my posts. I will write up a post and stir up some votes for you. As a teacher I can direct my students to your blog–being teens who knows what they’ll do. When do you have to have your votes by?

    • Thank you! I have the greatest respect for anyone who is a teacher. I know, firsthand, the effort and energy that goes into teaching. It is the most challenging and rewarding job in the world.

There are still 54 days to vote, but I’d like to stay in the top five for the entire competition. I’m sure it will increase my chances of being selected when i make it to the final three ;)

Have a great day and thanks for your support :)

      • Your vid was quite inspiring and well done. I didn’t bother with the other contestants because you are obviously the most deserving! Have you ever been to Scotland? That’s on my BIG (before I get too old, too tired, too short of funds, etc) list.
