Float Like a Butterfly, Sting Like a Manta

Before leaving California, we returned to Sea World, San Diego for one last day of sea life and adventures. Manta, Sea World’s new mega-attraction, soars, dives, and twists like a ray while seamlessly transitioning you from the awe of watching rays in underwater flight to the sensation of actually being one.

Featuring a unique “launch station,” we started our Manta experience enclosed in a launch tunnel with larger-than-life images of rays projected on a 270-degree enveloping screen. This state-of-the-art projection system is the first of its kind in the United States. Continue reading

Jetpacks are Only Real in Movies, Right?

There is a commercial, I don’t even know what it’s advertising, that has Jerry Seinfeld and Jay Leno; I think it’s a car commercial. Do you know which one I’m talking about? In this commercial, a jetpack is used as the most bizarre, ultimate bargaining chip, winning out over a private zip line over New York City. Jetpacks, after all, are a thing of the future and would only really be used in the movies or commercials, right? That’s what I thought until I was searching the internet one day for extreme, unique experiences in southern California and low and behold a jetpack adventure popped up with Jetlev Southwest. A Roller Coaster in the Sky – Biplane Fun

When it comes to adventure, rolling, spinning, flipping, and diving at 4,000 feet off the ground is hard to beat. Add an open-air cockpit and a beautifully restored 1943 WWII Stearman biplane and you have a day you’ll never forget. Biplane Fun took me on a roller coaster in the sky where adventure lingered around every cloud. This 360 degree experience was over some of the most beautiful scenery in America, and the aggressive maneuvers provided the most adrenaline-filled rush of my life. Continue reading

Join Us on a Glider Flight in Southern California!

I recently realized just how many California readers were following along and enjoying Bucket List Publications. It became blatantly obvious to me that there is a community of fellow adventure seekers and bucket list enthusiasts as I strolled through hundreds of comments and “likes” over the last few weeks. When I consider participating in an extreme adventure, I usually just ask Darren, my husband, and I’m certain that I’ll have a partner in crime, but I’d like to extend that welcome to all of my local readers.  On May 27th from 10am-1pm, Darren and I, along with his brother, are going to Southern California Soaring Academy for an introductory glider pilot lesson and we’d love to see you there. Giant Interaction at Sea World

Beluga whales are the gentle giants of the sea and at SeaWorld San Diego, I had the opportunity of a lifetime to interact with these beautiful creatures. Between 12 and 14 feet long and weighing about 2000 pounds, belugas are roughly twice the size of bottlenose dolphins. These attentive animals played and interacted with their surroundings and us, seeming almost more timid than I felt. SeaWorld is one of only six facilities in the world to host beluga whales, and through the Beluga Interaction Program, I got a once-in-a-lifetime chance to get in the water with these playful creatures. It’s one thing to see them twirling about behind a giant plexiglas tank, but it was a whole other world to have all 2,000 pounds wading in front of me, begging me to reach out and play. Skydiving was #1 on my Bucket List… and I ACTUALLY DID IT!

Featured Writer: Chanel

I never would have imagined at the start of this year, that I would have won a contest and got a free skydiving adventure in San Diego.

But, life is unplanned and spontaneous :) and that’s the best part about it!

Thanks to Bucket List Publications, I got to jump out of a plane on Easter and cross off the #1 item on My Bucket List. Continue reading

Delivering A Bucket List Reader to the Destination of His Dreams

Making bucket list dreams come true has become one of the most rewarding ventures of my life. Being able to say to someone that I’m actually going to make one of their dreams come true is like delivering Christmas and I’m a modern day Santa Claus! In the past month, Bucket List Publications has been able to send one reader, along with a guest, on a heli skiing and resort adventure with Selkirk Tangiers and Revelstoke Mountain Resort. His power dreams came true at the heli skiing capital of the world, BC, Canada, and all he needed to do was submit his bucket list and drive to the resort; we looked after the rest. Most recently, Len, a faithful reader, was delivered to the destination of his dreams – the back of a chauffeured Rolls-Royce limo with Matebele Limo. On April 6th, Len rode around in style and made one of his bucket list items a reality. Riding in a Rolls is an exclusively royal experience; even Kate Middleton chose to ride to Westminster Abbey on her wedding day in a Rolls-Royce Phantom. It truly is experiencing the lap of luxury, and Len was not disappointed.  Continue reading

Bucket List Publications has found its next Bucket List Recipient. Len’s list of bucket list activities included being chauffeured in a Rolls-Royce and with the cooperation of Matebele Limo, we’re going to make it happen on April 6th, 2012. Riding in a Rolls is something very few of us have actually had the opportunity to experience. The Rolls-Royce Phantom combines state-of-the-art technology and engineering with timeless contemporary design. The latest expression of Phantom redefines the luxury vehicle market. Being chauffeured in a Rolls truly is experiencing the lap of luxury. Continue reading
