This week has been all about Athena. Splashing in the pool, building sandcastles, strolling
down the beach, meeting other babies, and playing toddler games consumed our days and filled my heart with joy. Today, our last day at Pink Shell Resort, though, I had to test out the water sports. Every day when I walked by the water bikes, the kayaks, the paddle boards, the jet skis, and the Hobie Cats they called my name. We used Darren’s lunch break today to give into temptation and give them a spin. Continue reading

The Sun was Setting
Every second of the day since arriving at Pink Shell Resort in Fort Myers, Florida has been about spending time with Athena, but in the evening, when she’s already in dreamland, Darren and I watch the sunset from the balcony. Each night, it has been completely different yet postcard perfect every time.
Which one is your favorite? 1? 2? 3? 4? or 5? Do you prefer the yellows, blues, or pinks?
Pink Shell Resort Water Babies
Success! Athena and I spent the entire day playing in the pool at Pink Shell Beach Resort.
We did absolutely nothing else, and it was spectacular. The sun was beaming overhead casting a ray of light on our day. The breeze was strong enough to keep us cool and the water was refreshing without making us cold. It was the perfect combination to allow us to stay in the pool for hours. We finally called it a day when our fingers and toes were wrinkly prunes and even then Athena tried to get a few mores minutes out of me.
Kick Off Your Shoes & Play in the Sand
82 °F and a slight breeze… the perfect temperature for making sandcastles. Today,
Athena and I had one goal – to kick off our shoes and get down to making sandcastles. (Well, that was my goal. Athena’s goal was to sneak in a bite of a seashell any time I wasn’t looking but it fit nicely with my sandcastle goal so she went along.) This week is all about soaking up Athena time and she loves the sand so that’s where we spent our day.
Back to the Beach
My ten days in Jordan were life-changing. I journeyed to five of my bucket list locations
including Petra, Wadi Rum, the Dead Sea, the Red Sea, and Jerash. I hiked, swam, walked, and climbed my way through the country. I rode 4x4s, buses, cars, planes, donkeys, and camels; and I am exhausted. After ten days of being a hyperactive tourist, I want some beach time. This week we are relaxing at Pink Shell Beach Resort and Marina in Fort Myers, Florida. My plan is to spend as much time as humanly possible in the pool and on the beach. Forget constant exercise and adventure; I’m ready to relax. Continue reading
Everything but the… Wait Including the Kitchen Sink
I needed to put my feet in the sand and hear the sound of the ocean waves; it was a
long-over-due necessity. So we planned a weekend at Island Vista Resort in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. When we arrived, I was pleasantly surprised with the amenities available in the suite, including one king bed, 1 sofa sleeper, 2 full baths, full kitchen, dining room, washer and dryer, in room safe, and an oceanfront balcony that offered access to both the living room and the bedroom. It provided everything a guest needed to stay for a night, a weekend, a week, or even a month. Continue reading
Moments as Deep as the Ocean Sand
It’s 9:13 pm and I’m exhausted. I feel like it’s 4 o’clock in the morning. Why? because I
spent the day basking in the warm, bright sun, building sand castles, and running along the beach chasing birds. We’re spending the weekend at Island Vista Resort in Myrtle Beach, SC and it’s a remarkable place to enjoy with your family. Continue reading
We Are Looking Forward to Your Arrival!
Darren and I decided a beach weekend was long over-due so we’re heading to Island Vista Resort in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina tomorrow. I received a welcomed email from the resort and I realized that it represented customer service at its finest.
The Life of Our Home
We wanted to build our first home as a family in Charlotte, North Carolina; why try to fit into
someone else’s mold? We made a list of “must-haves” and wants and began our search. With tons of new houses and builders in the area, we had lots of options. A loft, 4+ bedrooms, a 3 car garage, 2.5+ bathrooms, walk-in closets, a fireplace, granite counter tops, lots of windows, high ceilings, hardwood floors, a community pool, walking trails, sidewalks, trees, a short driving distance from work, groceries, shopping, and food… the must-have list was hefty. Was it unrealistic? Of course. But a bucket list life comes with big dreams. And we’d left a life on the beach in California for a family environment and a roomy home for Athena. After searching north, south, east, and west over and over again, we found a builder. Ryan Homes offered a house in a community that had every detail we had listed on both the “must-have” and the “want” list and the life of our home began. Continue reading
QuintEvents: Doing Sporting Events the Bucket List Way
Every year, my bucket list gets more and more unrealistic; it has to since I’ve already been able to cross off such adventures as flying a
jet pack, swimming with whale sharks, and traveling to 35 countries. Last year’s focus was aerial feats such as aerobatics in a biplane, piloting a helicopter, and skydiving (again). This year I wanted to have a focus, but it had to be new and push the limits; after all, what’s the point of a bucket list? I found a company called QuintEvents and they were the answer to my huge bucket list dreams for 2013. Sports have influenced my life since I was a child. I played basketball, volleyball, and baseball from the age of 3. Then, as a young adult, I started coaching basketball, volleyball, soccer, field hockey, and even dragon boat racing. I’m surprised it took me this long to include sporting events on my yearly list, but this year they’ve found their place in a big way. QuintEvents are the experts for creating sports and entertainment experience packages that will be remembered for a lifetime. They are the only event company with Official Relationships with 6 of the world’s most prestigious event organizers! Rather than just attending an NBA game, I included a QuintEvents package on my list. They did NBA All-Star 2013 in true bucket list style and I’m already dreaming about my next QuintEvents experience. Continue reading
