The Sun was Setting

Every second of the day since arriving at Pink Shell Resort in Fort Myers, Florida has been about spending time with Athena, but in the evening, when she’s already in dreamland, Darren and I watch the sunset from the balcony. Each night, it has been completely different yet postcard perfect every time.

Which one is your favorite? 1? 2? 3? 4? or 5? Do you prefer the yellows, blues, or pinks?

Kick Off Your Shoes & Play in the Sand

82 °F and a slight breeze… the perfect temperature for making sandcastles. Today, Pink Shell Resort, Fort MyersAthena and I had one goal – to kick off our shoes and get down to making sandcastles. (Well, that was my goal. Athena’s goal was to sneak in a bite of a seashell any time I wasn’t looking but it fit nicely with my sandcastle goal so she went along.) This week is all about soaking up Athena time and she loves the sand so that’s where we spent our day.

Everything but the… Wait Including the Kitchen Sink

I needed to put my feet in the sand and hear the sound of the ocean waves; it was a Island Vista Resortlong-over-due necessity. So we planned a weekend at Island Vista Resort in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. When we arrived, I was pleasantly surprised with the amenities available in the suite, including one king bed, 1 sofa sleeper, 2 full baths, full kitchen, dining room, washer and dryer, in room safe, and an oceanfront balcony that offered access to both the living room and the bedroom. It provided everything a guest needed to stay for a night, a weekend, a week, or even a month. Continue reading

Bond’s Paradise Makes the List

50 items in one year! Yep, I’m pushing the limits with my 2013 Bucket List. Why not? Life Saving Paradiseis worth living, right? While some items are extreme like driving a NASCAR or hang gliding, others are more realistic like taking Athena to a zoo. What it all comes down to is that time is precious and life is worth living. It’s the daily moments as well as the over-the-top ones that come together to make each day a rewarding journey. As a previous English teacher, I love to read. Losing myself in a great book is equally as rewarding as losing myself in a new country, making number 38 on the list, find at least 5 new authors that I love, an enjoyable daily adventure. Mike Bond, and more specifically his new book Saving Paradise, makes the cut. Dan Brown meets Hawaii Five-0 in Bond’s thriller Saving Paradise leaving me wonder why it took me this long to find this author that I love.

Favorite Photos of Fiji – What’s Your Idea of Paradise?

Fiji was the most beautiful, pristine paradise that I’ve seen in the 35 countries that I’ve Fiji collagevisited. It has azure blue waters, lushes green rain forests, and golden sunsets. Every photo looked like a picture from a magazine even if it was from an amateur photographer like me.  Below are my favorites; each one for a different reason. On a cold December night, I’m dreaming of a white sand beach just like the ones I roamed in Fiji. Which one stands out to you? Share your thoughts. Continue reading
