Making Bucket List Dreams a Reality

In the last year, I made 8 bucket list dreams come true for my readers. Skydiving, heliskiingheli-skiing, piloting a helicopter, driving a NASCAR, riding in a limo, enjoying a spa day, touring wine country, and attending a ballet were all items on the bucket lists of my readers. I found ways to sponsor them or offer their dreams for free. All they needed to do was show up and live a bucket list dream day. This year I hope to do the same for at least 5 more readers. It’s one of the greatest feelings in the world to be able to help others accomplish their dreams. It’s amazing how much what you can do for others actually does for you.  Continue reading

Faces of Fiji

Friendly Fijian Children

Fijians are known worldwide as the friendliest people, and I’d rate their friendliness as the number one impression I was left with during my visit. From children to elders, the beautiful spirit of the Fijian people shines as bright as the sun that they are blessed with. The most common Fijian word you hear will be Bula (pronounced as”Boo-lah”). This is the Fijian way of saying “Hello”. Whether they are singing, dancing or welcoming you to their home, the people of Fiji will do everything they can to make you feel relaxed, welcome, and awed by the beauty of their islands and their hearts.

Favorite Photos of Fiji – What’s Your Idea of Paradise?

Fiji was the most beautiful, pristine paradise that I’ve seen in the 35 countries that I’ve Fiji collagevisited. It has azure blue waters, lushes green rain forests, and golden sunsets. Every photo looked like a picture from a magazine even if it was from an amateur photographer like me.  Below are my favorites; each one for a different reason. On a cold December night, I’m dreaming of a white sand beach just like the ones I roamed in Fiji. Which one stands out to you? Share your thoughts. Continue reading

I Didn’t Think it Could Get Better…. Then There was More

10 days in Fiji already sounds like a dream. Add on whitewater rafting, snorkeling, riding onSkydive Fiji a catamaran and a jet boat, ziplining, hiking to two waterfalls, visiting 5 resorts and a village, and driving buggies and it starts to sound like The Amazing Race. Just when I thought it was physically impossible to add any more to our itinerary, we decided, on our last day in Fiji, to take the plunge and jump from an airplane with Skydive Fiji. Here Comes the Sun: Rafting the Upper Navua River, Fiji

Our unforgettable rafting journey through paradise began early this morning with Rivers Rivers FijiFiji; we were on the bus before 7 am, but it was worth the early rise because the Upper Navua River, Fiji is a tropical wilderness, covered in lush rainforest and fed by countless waterfalls. The day would have been perfect if I didn’t make a serious, rookie mistake: I didn’t apply enough sunscreen throughout the day and now I’m as red as a matador’s cape. I’d recommend rafting the Upper Navua River if your in the area, but pack that suncreen and cover yourself head to toe! Oh Baby, it is hot in Fiji! Continue reading

Outrigger on the Lagoon: Reveling in the Beauty

Outrigger on the LagoonOutrigger on the Lagoon was my home for the past two nights. Needless to say, we’ve been active for the last four days. We hiked a waterfall, rode in a jet boat, experienced a traditional Fijian Kava Ceremony, stayed at four different resorts, kayaked, snorkeled, and surfed. So when I had time to relax at Outrigger, I reveled in the five star facilities and services.  Continue reading

Sigatoka River Safari: Cultural Connections in Fiji

With luscious rainforests, turquoise waters, an abundance of accommodation options, Fijian Villageand adventures for days, Fiji is an ideal tourist destination. But I can find those exact things in other parts of the world and avoid the long flight and costs. So what is the draw to Fiji? Why is it on everyone’s bucket list? Rich with history and culture, Fiji offers something more and I experienced it first hand today.  During the Sigatoka River Safari, we cruised up the magnificent Sigatoka River to visit an authentic Fijian village and experience a day in the life of the real Fijian. Our driver brought us on a journey to life, the way it is experienced in the village away from cell phones, computers, and “traffic” and I discovered that I would travel around the world a dozen times over to spend a day with the Fijian people.
